Dealing with the issues of the Mormon Church and leaving it can be very traumatic experiences, with life-long impacts. It's not the case for everyone, but it certainly was for my wife and I. We still process aspects of it, particularly when it intrudes into our lives, primarily through family interactions. Your experience as the accidental terrorist could certainly be a significant, traumatic experience.

Yes, that experience (and various other events leading up to it) was definitely traumatic, and that was just one of the traumata I experienced as a child and young adult. I’m sorry to hear that leaving was traumatic for you too. I’ve always wished I’d had the kind of personality that would have made walking away easy, but boy oh boy was it a struggle.
